MCP server

Let your AI agent run your mail merges

Mail Merge for Gmail ships a public MCP server. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, sign in with Google, and ask in plain English: write a template, pick a sheet, send or schedule a campaign, check who opened it.

Server URL https://merge.email/mcp

Up and running in three steps

  1. 1

Add the server to your agent

Paste https://merge.email/mcp as a custom connector (ChatGPT, Claude.ai) or a remote MCP server (Claude Code, Cursor). No API key to create: the server uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration.

  2. 2

    Sign in with Google

Your agent opens a Google sign-in page. Approve once and Mail Merge issues the agent its own token, which you can revoke at any time from your settings.

  3. 3

    Ask for what you need

For example: "Send my newsletter template to everyone in my 'Investors' sheet tomorrow at 9am." The agent reads the sheet, previews the merge and asks you to confirm before anything is sent.

Works with the MCP clients you already use

Any client that speaks Streamable HTTP MCP with OAuth can connect. Here is where the URL goes in the most common ones.

Claude.ai and Claude Desktop

Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. Paste the server URL and complete the Google sign-in when Claude asks.

Claude Code

One command in your terminal, then /mcp to authenticate:

claude mcp add --transport http mailmerge https://merge.email/mcp

ChatGPT

Settings, Connectors (developer mode), Create. Enter the server URL, pick OAuth as the authentication and sign in with Google.

Cursor

Add the server to .cursor/mcp.json, then approve the sign-in from the MCP panel:

{ "mcpServers": { "mailmerge": { "url": "https://merge.email/mcp" } } }

Any MCP client

Point it at https://merge.email/mcp. Discovery documents live at /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server and /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource, and the server card at /.well-known/mcp/server-card.json.

Available on every plan

Free, Personal and Professional accounts can all connect an agent. The agent can do whatever your plan allows in the web app. Professional-only actions such as Autopilot, follow-ups, email warm-up, email verification and AI personalization, and Personal features such as analytics, answer with a message naming the plan that includes them instead of failing, so the agent can tell you exactly what your plan covers. Plan changes are made by you in the web app, never through an agent.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to connect an AI agent to my Gmail?

Yes. The server uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE: you sign in with Google on Google's own page and the agent never sees your password. Mail Merge issues the agent a token limited to your Mail Merge account, and you can revoke it at any time from Settings in the web app.

Can the agent send emails without asking me?

No. Campaigns go out through send_campaign, and the server asks the agent to show you the recipients and the merged preview first. In Claude and ChatGPT a sending tool also triggers a confirmation prompt before it runs, so nothing leaves your Gmail until you say so.

Which plan do I need?

All of them. Free, Personal and Professional accounts can connect an agent. The agent gets exactly the features your plan has in the web app, and a tool your plan does not include replies with a message naming the plan that has it rather than an error. Billing and plan changes stay in the web app.

Does it work with my Google Sheets?

Yes. The agent can list your spreadsheets, read a sheet and use it as the recipient source of a campaign. The Mail Merge status column is painted in the sheet as usual, so you can follow the campaign from Google Sheets as well as from the agent.

Can I use my Mail Merge contacts and lists?

Yes. Contacts, contact lists, the blocklist and unsubscribers are all available. The agent can add or import contacts, build a list and send a campaign to it, and blocked or unsubscribed contacts are suppressed exactly as in the web app.

Does the MCP server cost extra?

No. The server is included in every plan, free included. Your usual sending quota and plan features apply; there is no separate charge for connecting an agent.
